Dr. John E. Ormando is a senior partner at Westminster Eyecare Associates. He is a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania, received his Bachelors Degree in Biology at Seton Hall University, and completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Ormando completed a three month intership with world-renowned glaucoma specialist Murray Fingeret at St. Albans Veterans Affairs Medical Hospital in Queens, New York. He also completed a three month internship in Corneal Disease and Specialized Contact Lens Fitting at the State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Ormando, along with Dr. Scott Colonna, founded Westminster Eyecare Associates which now has one of the largest single-office patient bases in the New Englad area. Dr. Ormando is a long time member of the American Optometric Association as well as the Rhode Island Optometric Association. He also is the Medicaid Liason for all optometrists in Rhode Island. Dr. Ormando loves the sport of football and coaches football in his home town of Lincoln, RI.
Dr. Scott A. Colonna is a senior partner at Westminster Eyecare Associates. He is a native of New York City and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan, New York. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. Dr. Colonna completed internships in primary care and ocular disease at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Newington, CT and infant and pediatric care at Beth Isreal Hospital and SUNY in Manhattan, NY. While in optometry school he travelled with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity organization to provide eye care in Nicaragua. He has also been part of the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program which provides free eye exams to participants of the Special Olympics. Dr Colonna has extensive experience in pediatric and infant eye examinations, primary care, contact lens, geriatric care, and ocular disease. He is an active member of Infant See, the American Optometric Association, and the Rhode Island Optometric Association. Dr Colonna has been practicing in Rhode Island since 2001.
Dr. Theresa Colonna is originally from upstate New York and attended the State University of New York College at Oswego with a major in Chemistry. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan, NY. She was a member of the beta sigma kappa honor society and received awards for academic and clincial excellence. Dr. Colonna was an active member and president of the student division of the Lion's Club and has also been involved in the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program which provides free eye exams to participants of the Special Olympics. Dr. Susana Chan is a native of Mozambique, Africa, but she grew up in Portugal. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1994 with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. She graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2001. Dr. Chan completed an internship in Cornea and Contact Lenses at SUNY College of Optometry and an internship in primary care at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York. Before relocating to Rhode Island, Dr. Chan was an associate doctor at NY Laser Group from 2001 to 2006. Dr Chan has been on staff at Westminster Eyecare Associates since 2006. She provides comprehensive eye care including routine eye examinations, contact lens fittings, screening for ocular manifestations of systemic dieases, management of anterior segment conditions including glaucoma, and post-operative care of cataract and refractive surgeries. Professional affiliations include the American Optometric Association and the Rhode Island Optoemtric Association. Dr. Chan in fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. She resides in Barrington with her husband and two sons. She enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Jodi Pukl is a native of Ringwood, NJ. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan, NY and her Bachelors in Science degree in Nutrition from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Pukl continued her optometric training through a residencey at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA specializing in primary eye care with an emphasis on ocular disease. She has also completed interships at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in New Haven, CT and Aran Eye Associates in Miami, FL. Dr. Pukl has extensive experience in family eye care, including pediatric and infant eye examinations, contact lens fitting, geriatric eye care, low vision consultation, and ocular disease. She has lectured and published articles regarding the ocular manifestations of hypertension in Review of Optometry. Dr. Pukl is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Rhode Island Optometric Association, and a Board Member of the I-Care Co Op. Dr Pukl has been practicing optometry in Rhode Island since 2005 and joined Westminster Eyecare Associates in January 2010.
Dr. Whitney Catanio is originally from Park Ridge, NJ. Dr. Catanio received her Bachelors of Science degree is Biology from Towson University in Maryland. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. She continued her education through a residency at the Hudson Valley Veterans Affairs Medical Center. There she specialized in primary care and ocular disease. Dr. Catanio presented posters on Sun Safety in Children, Ramsey Hunt Syndrome and Vitreomacular traction with the American Academy of Optometry. She has also lectured on Neuromyelitis Optica and Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Catanio has been a member of the Northeast Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity since 2004. With VOSH, she travelled to Nicaragua where she provided eye care to the medically underprivileged. She continues aid work with VOSH in Rhode Island.
