We offer a large selection of frame and lens options to ensure you are able to select the best eyewear to fit your needs. You will find our prices are competative if not better than other opticals. We also carry designer sunglasses, safety, and sport glasses. Westminster Eyecare Associates is now able to make certain glasses right in the office, which allows you to receive your glasses sooner than in the past.
LENS OPTIONS
Polycarbonate-Polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant, thinner and lighter than plastic lenses, and provide protection from the sun's UV rays. Because of these properties, polycarbonate lenses are a good choice for children and for safety glasses.
High Index-High index lenses are thinner, lighter, and flatter than standard plastic lenses. This make them a good choice for those with high prescriptions.
Progressive-Progressive lenses, also called no-line bifocals, are a multifocal lens that can correct vision at far, near, and intermediate distances.
Transition-Transition, or photochromic, lenses will darken when worn outside and become clear when inside.
Anti-reflective Coating-This is a coating applied to lenses to reduce reflections. The coating helps reduce glare and gives the lens a better appearance.
Ultraviolet Coating-This is a coating applied to lenses to reduce the amount of UV sunlight to the eyes. High amounts of UV exposure to the eyes can lead to various eye diseases, including cataracts and macular degeneration.
Scratch-Resistant Coating-This is a coating applied to the front and back surfaces of a lenses which hardens the surface and makes them less likely to scratch. This greatly decreases the likelihood of scratches to the surface; however, no lens can be made scratch-proof.
Polarized Sunglasses-Polarized lenses are a type of sunglass lens that have a special filter to block reflected light, thus reducing glare. Poalrized lenses improve comfort and vision, and are particularly useful for boaters and fishermen.
